This is an excellent example of the Polish paper-cutting technique known as Wycinanki pronounced Vee-chee-non-kee. It originated with shepherds creating works of art out of bits of leather and leaves that evolved into the use of paper to create a layered image often used to decorate cottages. This piece has a traditional rooster scene and is framed inside a gorgeous hand-painted wooden frame for added pizzazz. Has the original tag from Poland attached and factory is marked Handmade and the initials MS or MZ on the back. Measures 7.5 by 7.5 inches. No issues.
