Product code: Handmade ceramic art tile entitled factory “Tide Keeper”

This tile design was one of my first designs since I started tile making a little over a year ago. I entered this piece to be juried in my first tile show and was honored to win best of show and the people's choice award for this design. I just made a new batch of these. Most of the new ones are with an indigo stain but there re some variations pictured here. Be sure to specify indigo or earth toned tile when ordering. Thanks for looking.
This is factory an unglazed tile which has a soft almost leathery sheen leaning towards more of a matte finish. You will receive a tile similar to the one in the photo but not necessarily the one showing.
This piece is around 4x8 and is ready to hang with a drywall screw or a simple nail with a head.
Each tile is handmade here at Stardust Clayworks. First a piece of clay is rolled out into a slab from which I trim out the initial outer tiles dimensions. The cut out tile shape is then set aside to stiffen up . Once it has dried a bit the design is traced or drawn onto the clays surface. The design is then sculpted into the face of the tile. The sculpting usually takes a couple days to complete in between working on other tile designs simultaneously. A plaster mold is then made of this original tile so that duplicates can produced. After a tile comes out of the mold it is stamped on the reverse with our logo and a hanging notch is carved as well. The tile is then set aside to dry completely. Once dry ,color is hand painted using terra sigillatta infused with mason stains. At this point the tile will get a first of two firings. After the first firing , stain and additional surface treatment is applied. The second firing sets the stains and the tile can now be hand buffed using a blend of coconut oil and bees wax.
