Serpent Plate - Gotland, gotland plate, wooden plate, factory cherry wood plate, Norse art, Pyrography plate
A small shallow plate made of cherry wood. Adorned with interlacing serpents originally found as a fibula in Gotland, Sweden c.600-650.
25cm x 13cm
Wooden bowls, spoons and most other items from my production are not treated chemically, but with natural oils (mostly linseed) or waxes. This requires more sensitive treatment.
PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
- Do not expose the products to excessive heat or humidity.
- The products are not intended for prolonged contact with liquids.
- Clean well with lukewarm water without detergent and coarse sponges.
- Once in a while, treat the surface of the product with linseed, or other oils intended for the treatment of wooden utensils. (Do not use rapeseed or sunflower oil, they turn rancid quickly)
- If the surface becomes rough after washing, lightly sand it with fine sandpaper (280 and finer) and oil again. Do not sand over the pyrography, it will destroy it.
- Do not store the products while damp, but only after they are completely dry.
- Do not put the products in the dishwasher or in the microwave.
By following these few directions, everything will serve you for a long time, if not a lifetime.
The surface is treated with linseed oil, which guarantees long-term protection and is easy to renew. The factory bowls are made by hand, so please allow for a dimensional tolerance of cca 5mm.
