Set of Two Swan Lake Feather Headpieces - One White and One Black - Handmade Professional Ballet Costume - Swan Ears - factory Odette Odile
Designed and lovingly handmade by a professional ballerina, these swan headpieces (lovingly nicknamed "swan ears") will be the perfect finishing touch to make you stand out on stage in your next performance or competition!
This set includes one white headpiece and one black headpiece, so you will be all set to dance Swan Lake from start to finish! These headpieces are suitable for both dancers performing soloist roles, and those dancing in the corps de ballet.
Each feather is hand-stitched to a flexible mesh and wire base; no glue or plastic is used in the construction. The headpieces are lightweight and can easily be secured to the dancer's head using about a dozen bobby pins. The flexible base allows the headpieces to mold to the contours factory of the head and hair, so the dancer's lines are not interrupted.
Sizing:
The headpieces are designed to completely conceal the dancer's ears. To ensure a proper fit, please measure the head before ordering. Most mature dancers will fit perfectly in the Standard Adult size, and larger and smaller sizing is available by special order.
To measure, use a flexible tape measure. Measure in a loop from the top of the head, over the ear, under the chin, and back up over the opposite ear, to the starting point at the top of the head. Please refer to the last listing photo for a visual of how to measure.
If this total length is between 22" and 25" (55.9 to 63.5 cm), please order the "Standard Adult" size. If the total length is less than 22" (55.9 cm), please select "Custom (under 22 in)" as your size, and include your measurement in inches in the "Add your personalization" section. If the total length is greater than 25" (63.5 cm), please select "Custom (over 25 in)" as your size, and include your measurement in inches in the "Add your personalization" section. Please note that orders of headpieces in Custom sizes are not eligible for cancellations, returns, exchanges, or refunds.
Please note:
When the headpiece is new, it may appear to be too large or the feathers too fluffy. After the headpiece has been worn once or twice, the feathers tend to compress themselves down to match the shape of the base more closely. If you wish to "tame" a new headpiece, spritz it lightly with plain water and gently stroke the feathers in their natural direction (from the center of the headpiece towards each end). This is not necessary, but you may wish to do it. Allow the headpiece to dry for at least 24 hours before storing it. (Please refer to the photos of the black headpiece as an example of a new, unused headpiece; please refer to the photos of the white headpiece as an example of a headpiece that has been used several times).
The black feathers are dyed, and this dye may rub off onto other headpieces or costumes. Please do not store the black and white headpieces together. Please keep the black headpiece away from other accessories, costumes, and fabrics. Devilcat Dancewear is not responsible for any damage caused by the dye from the feathers.
Stage makeup (especially foundation and concealer) will transfer from the dancer's face to the headpiece. This is unfortunately an inevitable occurrence, and tends to be more noticeable on the white headpiece. This can be minimized by using translucent setting powder and setting/finishing spray after applying stage makeup. Some, but not all, of the makeup can be removed from the headpiece by gently wiping it with a cotton round soaked in micellar water. Devilcat Dancewear is not responsible for damage to the headpiece from stage makeup.
