Some say that "Maracas" came from Africa and others say from Native Indians. Maracas are very popular in Latin America. You see them used in festivities and as decoration. This pretty doll is dressed and ready for the parade and fiestas with maracas in hand. Some maracas are made of paper mache and some from gourds. The dress is molded of styrofoam and the bottom is covered with a blanket stitched piece of black felt sheet. She is 12in tall, 4in wide and weighs 3.3oz.
