Just looking at this old bottle makes me nostalgic for the time I spent on the island of Mollorca and appreciating all of the beautiful primitive and hand painted wares of the region, which I had absolutely no money with which to buy!
This one is from Italy and as about as early as they made them - making them still. I believe it was for either black cherry syrup or cherrylLiquor called Amarene or Amarena. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. The times answer to Amaretto, although again, both still made today.
It appears that Deruta is making the bottles or decanters now and possibly were back then.
This fine old bottle is pure pleasure and to be honest; hard to part with, but it is not my "thing", as you can probably tell. It is clean in the interior and exterior with no chips or cracks and would make a fine addition to any factory collection and still totally functional for its original intended use.
Measures 8.5 inches tall, has a replacement cork suitable for storing liquids, is 4.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep.
Thanks very much.
