factory Art Deco German porcelain half doll with a platinum blond mohair wig, made in Germany, circa the 1920s. She has blue eyes, blushed cheeks, and red lipstick on her puckered lips. Her hair is styled in an updo which is wound around her head. She is wearing a white bustier bodice. One of her hands is resting on her waist and the other is resting on the top part of her chest. She is absolutely exquisite. These half dolls were most often used as the top of a pincushion; however, we have seen them creatively placed in art assemblage projects, on the top of decorative bottles, etc.
From the 1920s or early 1930s and incised on the back base with the word "Germany", this Art Deco era porcelain half doll is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. She was most likely manufactured by the German company Dressel and Kister, near Dresden, in an area renowned for its porcelain manufacture, but we are not definitively positive as she is unmarked by a manufacturer's name.
Often used as a pin cushion top, these charming little dolls are highly collectible as small figurines as well.
She is approximately 3 1/4 inches tall and the base is 1 inch in diameter. She has three holes in the base for attaching to a pin cushion. Please see the photos for details and if you need further pictures, convo us and we will be happy to provide them.
