Vintage W&R Jacob Co Biscuit Tin - Made in Liverpool England

A beautifully decorated tin, the artistry is wonderful - I have seen more recent versions of the "ballerina" tin, but I think this is the vintage one with the ballerina vignettes on the side that everyone is looking for, I suspect this one is scarce - the British have a long history of fabulous biscuit and confectionary tins - this is a prime example.

In as found/used and untouched condition - only gave it a quick wipe with a cloth - structurally sound, all the seams are intact - some surface rust stains on the exterior (view photo #5) as well as factory the underside of the lid (view photo #4) - the inside has some light tarnish (view photo #4 ) - there are no rust perforations or holes - there are some age and usage related bruises, surface scuffs and seemingly a paint smudge/blemish, all of which befits a vintage item - the smudge is on the lid (view photos #1 & #3) - on the whole, in reasonable vintage condition.

The underside bears a decorative paper, which someone had partially scrapped off to reveal the following markings (view photo #9) .... the royal crest .... "by appointment to her majesty the queen biscuit manufacturers" .... W.&R. Jacob & Co. (L-Pool) Biscuit Manufacturers .... Liverpool, England.

fyi - in the course of my research I discovered that the image on the lid depicts Miss Nadia Nerina, a South African dancer and renowned member of the Royal Ballet during the 1950-60's.

Truly a very nice vintage tin which I hope finds its way to some one who appreciates great tins and perhaps ballet - enjoy.
