How does one describe Jolene? You'd be forgiven for thinking factory she was named after the song, her mother just liked the name. But hearing the song sparked a life-long obsession in our Jolene. She thought that Dolly Parton was the greatest woman in the world, and it dismayed her to think that she, Jolene, might one day take Dolly Parton's man. She spent every morning modeling herself after Dolly, and thought that for a 6'3 woman who looked nothing like Dolly, she did a damn fine job. She moved to Nashville, she dyed her hair, she dressed like her, she formed her own country/western band, and she made sure she never dated a man who had been previously involved with her idol. One day she was asked out by a man named Carl whom she mistook for Dolly's husband. Jolene was devastated but she knew she had no choice. With tears in her eyes and Dolly's song "The Bridge" playing on her Walkman, Jolene stepped off of a pedestrian bridge and plunged into the river.
Jolene is of course happiest when Dolly is playing on the speakers. Just don't play "The Bridge". Or "Jolene".
