Greek fisherman painting, vintage, folk art painting of factory Greek, of fisherman and fishing boat on reclaimed wood, fisherman with net and catch
Greek fisherman painting is a lovely, vintage piece by an Athenian folk artist, E. Kokori, who only still paints on factory reclaimed pieces of wood, salvaged from old furniture usually. She made this in the early nineties, although she had started painting sometime in the early eighties. She has sometimes painted the same theme repeatedly, but on a new, different piece of wood and it never looked the same.
This work of Greek folk art is painted with paint, such as the Greek icon paintings, mixed with egg.It is a difficult procedure, that requires a lot of attention and mastery.
After we had worked with this aritst for a long time, she decided to let us have some of her vintage pieces in our e- shop. This painting is on a tattered piece of wood, a salvaged piece of wood from discarde, old furniture.
On it the folk artist painted a fisherman on his fishing boat, out in the open sea, in front of a lighthouse. The quaint, Greek fisherman of old is gathering his nets, full of lovely golden fishes, standing upright in his small boat. The boat is red with a small, white sail.Into the blue sea there are a lot of foamy, white ripples. Also a large red fish, like a snapper and a yellow starfish.
There are a lots of sea birds in the sky and a large, red sun.The lighthouse stands tall and white in the background. The painted frame of this painting is a teal turquoise, a lovely minty green. The top part of the painting has an added piece of wood, painted in the frame colour of minty green/turquoise.It is decorated with a fleur de lis like pattern of white leaves.
The artist has signed her initials on the lower left part of the painting.
The colours are bright and lively, there is red and blue, minty turquoise, black, grey, yellow, and white.A completely unique, Greek, art brute painting.
This fishing boat painting measures about 25cm x 14cm ( 9.84'' x 5.51'') and it quite light. At teh back it is painted black and has a piece of wire attached, so you can hang it on the wall.
