Rare, Antique. wooden and silver, signed, 51" long, French Monastic Belt Rosary. See photo #2 for scale. Dating from the early 1900s, this religious item is composed of black wooden beads, and silver metal, with an Ebony and silver crucifix. The 39" loop is composed of 5 decades of 1/2" x 3/8" oval black wooden beads with silver cable chains and connectors. Loop is connected to a wooden centerpiece and pendant portion which contains three extra, "Hail Mary" Antiphon Beads. The crucifix is made of Ebony wood with silver metal backing and measures an impressive 5" x 2 1/2" x 1/4" deep (5/8" deep if crucified Christ is included). Christ is three-dimensional and extremely detailed. Pendant and Crucifix drop measures 12". Marked M.V.W on back of cross. This factory Rosary came with a lot purchased from Southern France.
