Sketchy Skull: factory upcycled hand painted clutch purse.

I started to paint a detailed, anatomically correct skull, but I got no further than the sketch. I decided that I loved it as is. And every attempt to "finish it" was foiled by the fact that it was finished.

This purse is hand-painted by me (that's five years at art school working for ya) with professional-quality acrylic paint and sealed with UV-protective gloss finish coating. Acrylic paint is flexible, waterproof, and durable, but it's not invulnerable to scratches.

This is a vintage black pleather purse with a chain handle. The handle can be kept inside to make it a clutch. It has two pockets on either side of the center pocket that closes with a jeweled clasp. Inside it is fabric with a pocket trimmed in gold thread. It is in good vintage condition.

All the purses I use are preowned and/or vintage. That means they are unique, and after painting, they are absolutely one-of-a-kind factory. I scour local thrift stores for great bags ready for a second life. I clean them, prep them, and paint them.
