This natural gemstone and rudraksha mala is comprised of 108 (6mm) beads – primarily amethyst with accent beads of rudraksha. The meru setting is a single carnelian bead followed by a larger flat agate stone. It is hand-knotted between each bead for longevity and ease of use on double-strung mutted gold-colored 100% cotton cord. The handcrafted tassel is created of the same cord the beads are strung with. This mala has a lovely, bright feel with rudraksha accenting every third amethyst stone. (Please note: Due the nature of using natural materials, there will be slight variations, especially in the agate meru bead, from what is pictured here.)

The length is approximately 18 inches (46 cm) from center to tip of tassel and the meru bead rests at or near the solar plexus when worn.

All Devi Malas are handcrafted by myself, Milwaukee designer Jackie Ratcliffe. Gemstone and rudraksha combinations are selected based on the design of the piece more than for the particular healing properties they hold. All Devi Malas are "Gayatri-infused" as I recite this Sanskrit mantra of purification during the mala's creation.

Amethyst is said to aid creative thinking and spiritual awareness. This grounding stone helps the wearer trust themselves and their perceptions, therefore overcoming negative conditioning. It can aid memory, including recall of past lives. It is a stone of protection in general and, specifically, from anger, jealousy and fear. In addition it can help with manifestation of one's desires, brings good luck, and helps stabilize energies in the home. Carnelian has the ability to cleanse other stones.

Agate is known to be calming, strengthening, and protective. Emotionally, agate gives courage, self-confidence, and dispels fears. It is said to have grounding, centering and balancing properties as well as an ability to improve mental concentration and perception. It is believed it can raise one's consciousness.
