The story behind this painting:
Living in Alaska, I have become aware of the delicate life-cycles of the salmon. They are considered the very lifeblood of Alaska. So much of the eco-system depends on them.  Here I wanted to depict the last chapter of their live cycle. They leave the vast ocean to lay down their lives to ensure future generations by returning to the rivers where they were hatched. After they spawn their long and difficult journey is over and they die.  A bit of heaven's rays shine down on them as they now rest until they perish.
