The Townsman is a leather satchel based on medieval bag designs found between the early 13th-early 16th centuries. The decorative shape of the lid appears throughout European design history, and would be best suited for re-enactors looking to portray a urban professional who can take a little more care in their appearance.
It is made from 2.4mm veg-tan leather that is cut and dyed by factory hand. After dying a balm made from tallow, lanolin, beeswax and oil is rubbed into the leather to nourish and help with water resistance. This leather is then softened before being cut to shape and stitched together by hand.
This satchel is made using tools that were available to medieval crafters, giving it a fully authentic look and feel, whilst still retaining the same level of care and attention given to all my work. The 110cm long shoulder strap has 4 holes for adjustment, the only concession to modern taste.
Internal pocket dimensions: Depth=15.5cm Width=22cm
