Vintage 1950's-1960's Large Hand-Blown Sooner Art Glass Orange Swirl Swan Console Bowl, Centerpiece, Fruit Bowl, Candy Dish, Planter, or Cornucopia.
Often mistaken for Murano art glass, the Sooner Swan Bowls, or Arklahoma Glass, are a favorite among mid-century decor fans. This elongated swan and orange swirl. coloring is hard to find.
These were made with used recycled "slag" glass and cullet acquired from other glass manufacturers in the area. Many call it "Sooner" glass because Oklahoma is know as the Sooner State, but actually, there was a glass factory in Spiro, OK area that was named Sooner Glass Company, which was owned by brothers Charles and Roy Sebo, active 1950s-1970s.
*Fill them with little soaps and shampoos or rolled up wash cloths and put this in the bathroom.
*Use this swan on your kitchen table for napkins, silverware, fruit or vegetables.
*Put this on your fireplace mantel with decorative balls, or even a plant.
Excellent condition without breaks, cracks or damage. There is some roughage along the beak line that could have small chips, but I can't see them, I can only feel rough edges.
