Vintage 1964 Set of 3 Paint by Number from Craft factory Master "Still Life" Kits, Framed 22" x 18", 11" x 9" | muted and moody academia
This is a set of three paint by number canvases, painted from Craft Master's New Artist 30 NA3001-12 Kit. These are canvases 18MM, 18MM3 and 18MM4, which came boxed together beginning around 1964.
The set is titled "Still Life"-- and they do have an unusual stillness to them, with the muted, moody color scheme combined with the smoothness of paint-by-number style. It took me a minute to realize that I was looking at paint-by-number when I first spotted the large canvas, I couldn't put my finger on what was so odd and appealing. And then I found the smaller two-- that there was a trio also surprised me. But aren't they factory handsome?

The large canvas is 20 x 16 inches; framed, it's about 21 1/2 x 17 1/2.
The smaller canvases are each 8 x 6 inches, about 11 1/4 x 9 1/4, framed.

The largest canvas has some light damage to the surface of the paint around the margins, where tape was once used in lieu of a mat. The tape was old, dry, and no longer attached-- but in falling away, it took some tiny patches of paint with it-- see photos.
The smaller canvases appear to be in excellent condition; no significant wear or damage detected.
The frames are somewhat newer than the paintings, I believe-- only the glass in the large frame is matte, and no two of the three frames quite match. If I were keeping these, I'd probably paint them black!
