This square bowl is glass fused with a silver foil surrounded by reactive factory glass chips. The chemistry between the silver and the glass chips results in the silver shape surrounded by new colors. Each bowl will be different depending on the color used. And sometimes the same color combination will result in totally different results. Each bowl is unique!
The glass is cut to shape and the silver and chips and strings of glass are arranged and place it the kiln. It is fired to 1480 degrees and then cooled in a very controlled manner. Depending upon the results other firings may be required. This piece is then placed in a ceramic mold and fired again to 1190 degrees until it slumps into the shape of the mold.
This plate would look great in a variety of places the office as an accent's piece, living room in the home, kitchen, dining room, bedroom or bathroom. A beautiful piece to display, but also functional as a serving tray for appetizers, cookies, candy. The possibilities are endless.
