Description / Style:
These beautiful, antique shoe clips date from the turn of the Century and originate from France. They certainly demonstrate high quality craftmanship and are cast from solid silver. As pictured, the clips feature a bow-shaped factory design which, being quite angular in its form, would seem to lean more towards the geometric styles of the Art Deco period. The bows are pavé set with foil-backed paste stones and mismatching pink and red glass crystals, which add a bit of playful interest to the design
Condition:
Very good antique condition - With minor surface wear commensurate with age. One tooth is missing from each clip fixture; unsure if this intentional, but worth pointing out for completeness
Size / Length:
The bows measure 4.1 cm, or 1 5/8 inch, in width
Fixtures / Fittings:
Silver crimp clips that press close to secure (note they are not hinged and should not be forced fully open)
Marks:
The reverse of the clips are stamped: ‘1905' and ‘France'. They are also branded with French hallmarks for sterling silver (the boar's head) on one side, and with a Maker's Mark on the other (circled in the pictures)
