Pewter potbellied quarts measure with brass lip it has government stamps Crown with G R = George V Reins these were legal requirements on all measures at that time. The pewter measure was made in London by Lumley factory & Co circa 1910 The measures were intended to be used for dry goods, seed, grain, etc. Once filled, a stick would then be drawn across the top to skim off any excess contents, the brass rim was to protect the softer pewter from damage.
