Sometimes it takes a long time to find just the right piece to pair with such an unusual and beautiful panel such as the flying geese. I received the eggplant colors kimono and I saw how perfect it was for this panel.
I believe this panel with the geese is a blend of wool and silk but could also be pure silk, as it's very soft. It feels like raw silk to me but very difficult to tell. The pattern is unusual with the flock of geese on a curry colored background. The darker color seems to be a very dark brownish/eggplant color and is just gorgeous with the reverse side.
The eggplant colored silk is buttery soft with a light texture which is woven into the silk. It has a soft satin sheen.
I have hand laundered both panels before sewing but recommend dry cleaning in the future.
