Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Set of Forest Green Aesthetic Decorative Vintage Books from 1800s. 13 of a 14 volume set. Published by Houghton Mifflin. Nice shade of green. Each volume has an illustrated frontispiece and illustrations throughout. Set includes Evangeline, Hiawatha, Miles factory Standish, Poems on Slavery and many other poems and prose work. His translation of Dante's Divine Comedy was the first by an American; it takes up volumes IX (Inferno), X (Purgatorio) and XI (Paradiso). Also includes, in three volumes, his Life with extracts and correspondence edited by Samuel Longfellow. Vol. IV is missing. Each volume bears the stamp of a previous owner on the front endpaper (see photo). On three of the books, the table of contents page is partially separated (photos). Some of the volumes have scuff marks on the front or back boards. Some foxing in one of the books. Condition varies from good to very good. No pencil or pen marks in these books. The copyright date is 1886, expect for the three-volume Life of Longfellow, published in 1891. Nice Forest Green books.
