WHAT IS IDROIL?
IDROIL Are Oil colours dilutable with water
What are the advantages of water solubility?
Thanks to their characteristics, Idroil oil colours avoid the use of traditional solvents(turpentine, oils, etc) they are perfectly dilutable with water.Tools can simply be cleaned with soap and water. Obtaining 3 immediate advantages
1- No risk of skin irritation or hypersensitivity .
2-No bad odours even in a small areas or poorly ventilated areas
3-Low cost and availability of solvent, just open the tap.

Are the consistency and brilliance of oil colours maintained?
Although they are dilutable in water, Idroil oil colours are authentic oil paints, primarily made from vegetable oils which determine their physical and chromatic characteristics:
1-Density and stickness are the characteristics which maintains the signs of the factory paintbrush or spatula.
2-Brilliant colours most of which are opaque and resistant to light
3-Perfect adhesion on all surface, even if greasy
Even if applied in thick layers, IDROIL does not shrink, wrinkle or change volume.

How does the drying process of IDROIL colours occur?
The drying of these colours occurs, as with traditional oil colours, by oxidisation of certain bonds within their chains of molecules. These linear chains slowly bond together using the oxygen absorbed, forming a solid three dimensional structure with the ability to reflect towards light giving a brilliant and intense aspect to the colours, which is very typical of oil colours.

Which colours can be mixed by IDROIL?
The colours and medium used for the art paint currently in commerce are divided into two categories: oil (lypophils) and water (hydrphils) incompatibile between them.
The outstanding characteristic of this new colours is the compatibility with oil colours, water colours and relative medium products
These properties give the artist new possibilities to obtain previously unattainable effects. The examples that follow represent several uses of these new colours, but there are many other new colours the artist can discover and experiment with.

Compatibility with oil colours and medium
IDROIL colours are perfectly mixable with all oil colours and other medium (linseed oil, turpentine, etc) in different volumes. It is important to know that if IDROIL colours are added over 30% of volume, the dilutability in water may be cancelled.
Compatibility with acrylic colours and medium
As with traditional oil colours, IDROIL colours can be mixed with acrylic colours in different volumes achieving several advantages:
1- the drying process of acrylic can be minimized.
2-The adherence to the surface is improved by keeping the colours greasy.
3-During the drying process consistency and stickiness rise.
4-It is advisable to dilute the colours in a little water before mixing them with acrylics in order to avoid excessive stickiness.

Compatibility with tempera colours
Nowadays, as in the past, several artist have tried to obtain paint colours that would have the opacity and coverage of uniform temperas apart other typical characteristics of oil colours. Greasy temperas have been experimented by many artists obtaining more or less positive results. The possibility to mix these colours with temperas give the opportunity to obtain good results. In fact, thin colours such as temperas currently in commerce are improved their elasticity and adherence to difficult surfaces keeping their opacity and flatness
