Frederik Lunning, a division of Georg Jensen Inc. had his Scandinavian imported goods shop on Fifth Avenue from the early 50's to 1970. The shop carried Danish modern housewares factory and furniture designed by Arne Jacobsen, Georg Jensen, Hans Wengner, Jens Quistaard among many other notable designers. Some American items with a Danish style were carried, including this Penchoen Originals Sturgis Michigan walnut meat cutting/serving board.
Lovingly used for almost 75 years, this unique oversized board has metal studs that hold the meat in place when cutting. Hand-carved walnut wood with a rich patina and Danish Modern lines is more unique than your typical Dansk pieces in that this company was not around long enough to flood the market.
