LEATHER:
Tropical Island Brown Horween Leather. Sometime called North of Shell Cordovan.
This is Horween's famous Chromexcel leather that has been embossed with a floral print. Chromexcel is the original pull-up leather; using time honored techniques and formulas that were developed nearly 100 years ago. Chromexcel is still produced in the Chicago IL using a bark retannage from a proprietary recipe, and then genuine hot stuffed with Horween's secret blend of natural oils and greases. Chromexcel is characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand rubbed finishes. Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability. I have chosen Chromexcel made from Horse, not Cow, due to my belief it wears or patinas better over time.

Leather Finish and Care:
All real Leather will scratch and scuff rather easily, but due to the high grease content in some types, these scratches may be buffed out. Though leather will repel some moisture, water, oils and other liquids can eventually stain it. Keep moisture off of these leathers. If it gets wet, dry by tapping out moisture with a soft dry cloth. 1-2 times a year you can apply a high quality leather conditioner to your pull-up leather goods. First rub in the product and then buff to a nice finish with a soft, dry cloth. This will protect the leather and keep it looking beautiful.

Edges:
All edges are finished by hand. They are first roughed in with a blade and then hand sanded using increasingly finer grit sandpaper. Lastly they are burnished with a hardwood burnisher and bees wax sourced locally from Poestenkill NY. The edges will appear natural and not overly finished. They will not look painted or polished, but rather rustic and natural.

Stitching:
All stitches are made by hand using a Saddle Stich method. Saddle stitching is a two needle stitch that results in a seam that is durable and robust. Due to the locking nature of a saddle stich, if a single stitch fails the seam remains functional. This is the main advantage over a machine stitch. All stitching is finished by a process of backstitching, and burning excess thread, creating finish that is unlikely to come undone. Pockets will expand over time to fit more cards, so be gentle and don't force them. If cards are sticking a little baby powder in the pocket may help.

Thread:
Imported from Germany and founded in 1895, Ritza 25 Tiger thread is considered the superior thread among leatherworkers for its durability and strength. It is 100% polyester and lightly waxed making it UV resistant and dependable. When hand sewing with Ritza 25 Tiger Thread, the
thread will lie flat against the leather. And as a braided polyester, factory this thread is preferred for making bags, belts, wallets, shoes, and more.

Craftsmanship:
I do all the work for each piece I make. Blood, sweat, and sometime tears are put into each hand crafted item. Due to the nature of leatherwork and the items I create, everyone will be unique. Expect to see minor imperfections as each piece is made from hand. Hand stitched, hand cut, and hand finished. This is what makes the items special, and different from those that are mass produced. My items are proudly made in the USA, with love.
