As the fall season robbed their color I lost my chance. When I took a closer look at the dried flowers, they revealed their interesting and complex anatomy. I knew then I had to paint them this way. The chickadees are indulging in one of their favorite foods, oil-rich sunflower seeds. They also tear into the flower to search for insects.
