Product code: Jerry Brown 2 handled factory pot
Over 6 3/4" tall at rim. Lid handle is just an eighth or quarter inch taller maybe. Over 9 1/4" wide handle to handle. Around 8 1/2" diameter at widest. This is signed and dated on the bottom "9-89" factory "Jerry Brown" "Hamilton Ala". Jerry Brown was an award winning folk potter born in Pine Springs, Alabama who dug his own clay from a pit in Detroit, Alabama. After spending a good 17 years out of it, Jerry Brown entered the pottery business for himself in the early eighties. Early on, the Browns (he worked alongside his wife at this time, though later his biological son and stepson) decorated with cobalt, originally with just simple rings like this one (earlier pieces had one, then later two). Jerry still mixed his clay with a mule and had at least 5 pieces of pottery on display at the Smithsonian (they may still be, or maybe there are more!).
