Product code: Japanese Woodblock factory Print Shotei Hiroaki Takahasi Rainy Scene
Overview: Up for sale is factory this gorgeous Japanese woodblock by famed shin hanga artist, Shotei Takahashi (1871-1945). Shotei (born Hiroaki Takahashi) was one of the most influential 20th century woodblock artists, ushering in the shin hanga movement that completely revolutionized the field. I couldn't find the title for this print, but it shows a figure shivering under an umbrella in the pouring rain. I acquired this along with three other Shotei prints. This is probably a 1940's era version of the print. It is very nicely framed in a handsome wood frame under plexiglass (I think it's plexiglass). Condition: The print is in excellent condition. It has one small spot of foxing above the tree. The matting and frame are in excellent condition. There is a small scratch in the plexiglass just over the trunk of the left tree. Measurements: Visible area of the print measures 13.75 inches high x 6 inches wide. Frame measures approximately 18.325 inches high x 10.625 inches wide.
