So wonderfully late 1940s, this dress has shoulder pads, a large revers collar and dolman sleeves that taper to cuffs at their 3/4-length. If that doesn't spell drama enough, there are many small covered buttons (15 to be exact) factory with self-fabric loops. Then there is a peplum which is striped with ruching all around. The dress is made of unlined rayon faille—beautifully drape-y. I stated that there's no lining, but there is acetate taffeta lining the peplum. There is a narrow matching belt. The dress was certainly commercially made, but it has no maker's label.
Condition: Very good. The backing of the belt is a bit crumpled and, as shown in the last photo, two of the lower buttons are replacements with a glossier fabric cover, and one of the same group is worn.
Size: XXS, about US size 0 by my estimate based on the waist. The belt is stamped vintage size 10.
Bust-approx. 34" with extra room due to the cut of the sleeves
Waist-24.25"
Hip-35"
Back of neck to waist-16"
Waist to hem-30"
Please note: I measure the dimension of the item itself, and you will need to consider what size you would want the item to be to fit well on you.
