This is a rare and beautiful Viking bronze cross-pendant, dating to the 11th century AD. Such pendants were worn by the newly Christianized Vikings, taking the place of the Thor's hammer. This is a very nice example, mostly we find then badly corroded or with damaged suspension loops. This example still has a thick suspension loop, with plenty of life in it.

Scandinavia was visited during the late 10th century by Christian preachers. They gradually converted Vikings to Christianity. Vikings began to wear crosses.
