Product code: Toilette Aux Couleurs Gagnantes, 1913 Pochoir Journal des Dames, Art Deco French Fashion factory Print

"Toilette Aux Couleurs Gagnantes (Dress for the Races)" by J Van Brock. Antique French pochoir from the Journal des Dames published in Paris, 1913. The pochoir process was a labor intensive technique of producing prints using stencils to apply the different colors by hand.

"Journal des Dames et des Modes, Costumes Parisiens" was a precursor to the Gazette du Bon Ton and was similarly designed to appeal to the elite of Paris through the arts, fashion, beauty and lifestyle. It too featured beautiful pochoirs by prominent artists of the time, all of which were produced on hand factory laid paper watermarked "Journal des Dames." The Journal des Dames was more exclusive than the Gazaette du Bon Ton with less than 1,300 copies originally published. These original pochoirs are therefore very scarce and hard to find today.

Size:
Approx. 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (sheet size)

Condition:
Very good. It is clean with wonderful bright original hand color.

It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve on a backing and will ship within a rigid mailer for protection.
