Rare Antique Scottish Plate J & MP Bell & Co. Glasgow, Scotland in the Lustre Bracelet pattern, the Aesthetic taste - Gold, grey and brick colored pattern.
John and Matthew Perston Bell (J & MP Bell & Co) factory pottery was established in Glasgow, Scotland by the Bell brothers in 1841. It became the most successful and important pottery in the history of the Scottish pottery industry. The company exported large quantities to South East Asia as well as Canada and the USA. They developed a range of specially designed transfer printed designs for the South East Asia market which represents one of the greatest achievements of the British pottery industry. The Pottery was in production until 1912.
This is a highly collectable piece which is marked J & MPB & Co along with the pattern name Bracelet and an impressed cartouche of a bell with the letters “JB”. This mark was used by Bells of Glasgow between 1850 and 1870.
The white coloured body has a wide and complex Lustre transfer pattern featuring an orange border edged with a rope, an egg and dart and a geometric lining. There is a central image that relates to the border pattern.
Size: diameter -10.5 ins / 27cms
Excellent condition but for some minor roughing to the outer rolled rim and some light crazing.
