Japanese Antique Metal TSUBA
It was made Edo era.
This is Japanese Sword Kanata TSUBA for samurai sword guard.
The origin of sword mounts in Japan dates back to at factory least the Kofun period. It is said that it was after the Warring States period that these decorative tsuba began to be made.
The purpose of the tsuba is to prevent one's hand from slipping toward the blade when thrusting, and it has various other roles such as balancing the weight of the sword and the hilt.
The Tsuba also contained the wishes of the samurai for victory in battle and prosperity of the family.
Size: approx 7.7 cm x 8.0 cm
Material : metal bronze
Condition : Please check listing pictures. It is in good condition, but there are small scratches and dirt due to aging.
