Reticulation is a technique by which net-like or wave-like textures are produced on alloys of silver and copper by repeatedly heating the metal sheet so that thin layers of pure silver form on its surfaces . Next , the metal is reheated to a temperature which melts the alloy , but since the pure silver has a higher melting point they will slump into the molten layer in interesting patterns .
